Your Same Day Crown Check is free with no obligation to go ahead. If the X-ray says the tooth doesn't suit a same day crown, you still pay nothing for the check, and you leave with a quote for what it does need.

The Next Visit Promise
If we start your crown and can't fit it that day, you get a temporary and we fit your crown at your next visit, 1 to 2 weeks later, at no extra charge. That happens to about 1 in 50 crowns, usually a difficult colour match, and your dentist will usually tell you before starting if they think it might.
The 5 Year Crown Warranty
If your crown breaks within 5 years of fitting, we replace it at no charge. The warranty doesn't cover damage from trauma, such as an accident, or recurrent decay caused by inadequate oral hygiene.

The Check Is Free. Your Exact Figure Before Anything Starts.
The Same Day Crown Check is free. A standard same day crown is $1,600 per tooth, front or back, including the consultation and the X-ray. A small number of teeth need a post, a pin that helps hold the crown in place, which adds $400. If the tooth needs a root canal first, that's an additional fee, from $900 to $1,800. Your dentist will tell you which applies before anything starts. Payment is on the day. You can claim on the spot with HICAPS where eligible, conditions apply.
What People Ask Before They Book
Will it hurt?
Your tooth is numbed before anything starts, and for most people one numbing covers the whole visit: preparing, fitting and cementing. About 1 in 20 people need a top-up during the visit.
Is a crown made in the room as strong as a lab made one?
It's a fair question. Dr Maher: "Your crown is milled from the same zirconia used for lab made crowns, and it's the same strength." He has fitted over 1,000 of them since 2024.
My tooth doesn't hurt. Can it wait?
Dr Maher: "A crack doesn't repair itself." Whether yours needs attention now is what the check and the X-ray are for.
How soon can I be seen?
Within 7 days. We hold 10 Same Day Crown Checks each week, and we're open until 8 pm on Thursdays.
How long am I at the practice?
Allow about 90 minutes for the whole visit, check included. Sometimes it takes a little longer.
What if my tooth isn't suitable?
The check is still free, and your dentist will quote you for the treatment the tooth does need.
Is the check really free?
